Empiremirror.com

Our friend and neighbour Jeff Langstaff has just launched his new website: empiremirror.com.

Jeff lives right here in Annapolis Royal and crafts beautiful historically Neoclassic mirrors. Each one is custom made to order using solid maple and birch hardwoods with antiqued gold metal leaf carvings and hand rubbed aged patina finishes.

We invite you to have a look at his website and we wish him the best of luck.

Pop-up antique jewelry event: August 27th

We are thrilled to be able to welcome Leslie Lawrence to Mrs. Nicholson Home for a pop-up antique jewelry sale during Arts Unleashed! on August 27th.

Leslie Lawrence has worked in the jewellery industry for many years. Many of you will recognize her from her years as manager and buyer at FireWorks Gallery in Halifax.
Retirement has found Leslie back in Annapolis Royal where, as a child, she developed a passion
for antique jewellery while accompanying her parents on their search for antique furniture.
Her search has never stopped as she has been collecting period jewellery for over forty five years.

Come join us on Saturday August 27th for her Pop Up at Mrs. Nicholson Home and see her recent shipment of Antique British Gold and Sterling Silver Jewellery.

See below a sneak preview of some of the pieces Leslie will have on the 27th.

July 30th: World Embroidery Day

July 30th is the 5th World Embroidery Day.

This was begun by the Swedish Embroiderer’s Guild and they invite people all over the world to participate in the peaceful occupation of Embroidery.

We will be celebrating World Embroidery Day at Mrs. Nicholson Home this Saturday afternoon between 1 and 3 pm. If you would like to come and stitch in front of our store, please do!

I will be !

Below are quotes from the World Embroidery Day Manifesto:

“To embroider is a peaceful occupation”

“People embroider out of joy”

“We want to acknowledge embroidery as an act of free creativity, which can lead to

free, creative thoughts and ideas. We want to tie our embroidery threads from the privileged

northern hemisphere together with stiches that are sewn by embroidering sisters

and brothers all over the world.”

“We want to be part of a joyfully creative peace movement.”
