We will miss Yoda – our store cat

Sad news this morning to report.

Yoda, our store cat who lives up the street and who has graced us with his presence since the first day we opened was accidentally hit and killed by a car yesterday morning outside his home.

We all loved Yoda and the many visitors to our store always took pictures of him and sent him around the world.

He loved to come in and sleep on the comfiest piece of furniture we had in the store and was always the sweetest and friendliest little cat.

We will miss him terribly.

Yoda loves the barkcloth!

We haven’t posted a picture of Yoda in a while.

He came in this morning for a snooze on the barkcloth bed cover. Almost in camouflage.

He has since gone off hunting somewhere!

Yoda and the “new” footstool

Yoda, our visiting kitty, has a penchant for the latest comfy thing at Mrs. Nicholson Home. Jane just finished upholstering this sweet little footstool with a vintage needlepoint. It looked so inviting that Yoda came this afternoon to try it out!

Getting ready to open!

Jane and I have been busy staging the store for our 2015 season opening this coming Saturday, May 23rd at 9 am.

Yoda, however, is not going to wait!

He appeared at the back door yesterday and had a look around. He spotted a great new place to have a nap.

We are happy to see him again and look forward to seeing all of you!

Cats and dolls

Yoda chose a new place to snooze today…

…on the beautiful Chinese silk quilt ($350) and next to Francoise.

Francoise is a French Jumeau doll from the 1880s. I bought her in Paris in 1990 as a present to myself for finishing my Master’s Degree in French.

She is a lovely girl  and needs a new home.

Who says cats and bears can’t be friends?

Yoda has found himself a comfy place to snooze this afternoon.

As you may know, Yoda is not our cat. He belongs up the road at Bistro East restaurant, but he often comes in for a visit and snooze!

He’s irresistible.
