Tam O’Shanter Dinnerware 1949-1958

How sweet is this ?

From a 1952 Vernon Kiln’s brochure about their new dinnerware line:

” Fresh as Highland Heather… and warm as a Scottish brogue! Diffused stripes of rust, chartreuse and deep green combine to create an effect that is perfect with provincial, delightful Early American… and yet… at the same time… sleek and modern! You’ll find Tam O’Shanter serving pieces are designed for many uses, functional as well as decorative.

This delightful Vernon plaid pattern is hand-painted under the glaze…guaranteed for 25 years against crazing or cracking…will not fade, mar or wash off in the dishwasher of with years of use”

Well! in 2014, we can attest to the 25 year guarantee! The set is as lovely and vibrant as it was in the early 50s.
